Rehab, Special Conditions and the STOTT PILATES® Method

Back and Neck Conditions and Pain

Although you should always consult your physician before starting any fitness routine, a Pilates workout is gentle and controlled with no sudden jarring actions. It is therefore more important that you work with a qualified instructor to ensure that you are doing the movements correctly. An experienced instructor will be able to modify the exercises to accommodate your limitations, continually challenge you within your range and monitor your improvements. If you commit yourself to a consistent workout schedule you will certainly feel results.

Inspire Health has on staff licensed physical therapists, who are also STOTT PILATES® Certified instructors, to implement effective and appropriate therapy programs incorporating the STOTT PILATES® method.

Joint Replacements/Resurfacing

STOTT PILATES® is ideal exercise following joint replacement surgery or for post-rehabilitation exercise. Some clients chose to perform their post operative physical therapy at Inspire with our licensed physical therapist utilizing STOTT PILATES® as their therapeutic exercise along with other PT modalities. Other clients chose to use STOTT PILATES® in conjunction with therapy at their orthopedist's practice or as post-rehabilitation exercise to optimize their recovery and return to a full and active lifestyle.

Arthritis

Pilates is a gentle, non-impact form of exercise that promotes a neutral alignment of joints, flexibility and strength. These elements of pilates exercise are essential to managing arthritic joint conditions. Our instructors who are PT's can establish your program to ensure it is safe and effective for your specific condition.

Multiple Sclerosis

A customized and individually planned program of STOTT PILATES® exercise can help to maximize and maintain strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Depending on each client's areas of strength and weakness clients can be supported and assisted in movement or challenged with appropriate use of the STOTT PILATES® equipment. With licensed physical therapists on staff we can offer clients an effective and appropriate pilates workout.

Breast Cancer

Pilates is an effective and safe way to regain confidence, mobility, strength and endurance following treatment and surgery for breast cancer. With clearance from your treating physician, a customized STOTT PILATES® program, specific to your individual situation and goals, can be developed.

Pre Natal

Available with clearance of your OB/GYN only if you have been a previous student of a pilates method prior to your pregnancy. Our policy is consistent with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommendations for exercise in pregnant women.

Post Natal

Once you are cleared for return to exercise by your OB/GYN, STOTT PILATES® is an excellent way to regain your core strength, pelvic floor musculature tone, and tone arms and legs. And to spend some much needed time focusing on you!
